Seitan saté
Description
The seitan saté is a little wooden stick filled with seitan, pieces of onion and slices of carrot. After it has been dipped in a 'tempura' dough of wheat flour and corn flour, it is deep-fried until it's golden yellow. Despite the deep-frying, the seitan saté only has a fat content of merely 3,4%.
Ingredients
Seitan* (wheat flour*, shoyu*, ginger*, kombu, herbs*), onion*, carrots*, wheat flour*, corn flour*, sunflower oil*, shoyu*
*organically produced
Preparation
The seitan saté is ready to be eaten; the only thing that needs to be done is heat it up a little bit. You can do that in the oven (150 °C) for about 12 minutes or by placing it in a pan on medium heat for 10 minutes. There is not need to add oil, since it releases a bit of oil during heating.
You can also prepare it by deep-frying it for 3 minutes at 175 °C. Be aware that the fat content is higher when you do this.
